Professional roller blade Dirk Auer sets a new world record – by in-line skating down a roller coaster- after he race down a roller coaster at the speed of 90km/h (56mph). The 36 year old roller decide to do something impossible which no one had ever done by skating down a 860 metre track in a minute.

By wearing a special designed in-line skates the German made the attempt on the Mammoth roller coaster at the Trips Drill theme park in Stuttgart, Germany. It was a very dangerous stunt and the Dirk Auer shows no fear and skate down theroller coaster. It took him 2 months and 110 hours of work to produce the special designed in-line skates.

He said: “Since I was a kid, I’ve always had a fascination with downhill and speed – it’s probably why I like luge. To me it seemed like a no-brainer to invent a sport that brings together ice and speed in a new way – Downhill Ice Skating. While I’ve yet to see that sport on the docket of the Olympic games”.

The 36-year-old admitted he had placed his life at risk by performing the daredevil stunt. “This was a very dangerous stunt because there were so many factors to consider. The roller caster is wooden and so unlike rides made from iron and steel there was always a chance of the odd nail or screw that would not be entirely flat, ” he said.

Mr Auer, from Gross-Gerau near Frankfurt, is considered to be the most extreme in-line skater in the world. He already holds the world record for reaching speeds of 190 mph as he was dragged along behind a Porsche GT2.
